Title: 人機の情動 (Jinki no Jodo)
Director: Maiko Endo, Deborah Stratman, Gabriel Abrantes, Saul Williams, Anissia Yuseyiman (遠藤麻衣子、デボラ・ストラットマン、ガブリエル・アブランテス、ソウル・ウィリアムズ、アニシア・ユゼイマン)
As technology advances, pushing the boundaries of "human-machine oneness" (seamless integration of man and AI machines, while retaining self-reliance), University of Tokyo Prof. Masahiko Inami launched the Inami Jizai-Body Project to envision blended futures. Experimental filmmaker Maiko Endo was involved in the lab, inspiring a short film, Jizai. To coincide with its Japanese premiere, the director selected three films under the theme Man Machine Emotion, and the package will be screened along with talks examining the symbiosis between humanity and technology.

Maiko Endo’s Jizai follows the journey of a boy who becomes one with a robot, pushing the limits of his abilities by creating new body parts. Through his three-eyed glasses, he connects with two other children, transcending the boundaries of time and space for a truly polyphonic experience.
The other three films in the package are also worth watching: Deborah Stratman’s Hacked Circuit (2014/15 min/USA), Gabriel Abrantes’ Os Humores Artificiais (2016/29 min/Portugal, Brazil, Spain), and Neptune Forest by Saul Williams and Anissia Yuseyiman (2021/105 min/Rwanda/USA).
