Title: 僕のヒーローアカデミア THE MOVIE ユアネクスト (Boku no Hiro Akademia za Mubi Yua Nekusuto)
Director: Tensai Okamura (岡村天斎)
Duration: 110 min

If you want to get a jump on your friends back home and see My Hero Academia: You're Next before it’s released in the US/Canada (in both English-subtitled and dubbed formats on October 11) — you’re in luck! The fourth feature based on the popular manga/anime franchise will be shown with English subtitles in Shinjuku and possibly other theaters from September 9. It’s already one of the highest-grossing films of 2024 at the Japanese box office, and now you’re in a position to boost it even higher.

As followers will already know, You're Next  is set after the Paranormal Liberation War just before the final battle between heroes and villains, as Deku and his classmates join forces to stop a mysterious giant fortress and a man who intends to replace the former Symbol of Peace.

“Yes, the time has come,” intones the man calling himself Dark Might, in the trailer for the film. “It’s the dawn of the Dark Might legend!”

The My Hero Academia manga series, written and illustrated by Kohei Horikoshi, has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump for the past decade, with its chapters collected into 41 tankobon volumes as of August 2024.  By April 2024, there were over 100 million copies in circulation, making it one of the best-selling manga series of all time. It’s also earned critical raves and several industry awards, and the anime series has received additional praise and numerous awards. The manga inspired many spin-offs, as well as expanding into light novels, plays, video games and nine original video animations (OVAs). A live-action film is even in development from Legendary Entertainment.

The ongoing story is set in a world where superpowers (called "Quirks") are common, and follows a boy who was born without one, Izuku “Deku” Midoriya. But he’s been scouted by the world's greatest hero, All Might, who bestows his Quirk on Deku after recognizing his potential, and helps him get into the Hero Course at a prestigious high school for superheroes in training.

In his second year at U.A. High, Deku has a violent clash with the powerful Tomura Shigaraki  during an all-out battle between heroes and villains. While Shigaraki  has temporarily retreated at the start of My Hero Academia: You’re Next, the mysterious figure calling himself Dark Might and claiming to be the new Symbol of Peace suddenly shows up, and starts fortressing the population. It’s up to Deku, Bakugo Todoroki and the rest of Class 1-A to save the day — and to save Anna, a young woman with an unknown Quirk…
