Title: ショートショート フィルムフェスティバル & アジア 2023 秋の映画祭 (SHORT SHORTS FILM FESTIVAL & ASIA 2023 Aki no Eigasai)
If you missed the Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia (SSFFA) in June, now is your chance to catch the 2023 winners at its annual Screening in Autumn event at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography from October 19 to 22. There are additional screenings at several other venues: at lunchtime daily during the Hibiya Cinema Festival at Tokyo Midtown Hibiya (October 13 – 22), as well as in the evening at Theater Guild Daikanyama (October 16 – 18). Screening times vary depending on the program. Please check individual websites.
SSFFA, now in its 25th year, received over 5,000 entries from 120 countries/regions this year, and screened over 200 of them at its annual June celebration of short films, both online and in theaters.
Among the many winners — making them eligible for Academy Award consideration — are several Japanese films, including the Grand Prix/George Lucas Award honoree from the Animation Competition, The Bridge (Izumi Yoshida, Poland/Japan); Shinji Hamasaki’s Japan Competition Best Short Award/Governor of Tokyo Award Seen, starring Eita Nagayama; the Japan Competition Audience Award winner Tiger Cave, marking theater maestro Mansai Nomura’s directorial debut; and Sweet, starring the single-named Ami, winner of the Best Actor Award (Japan Competition).
