Title: 土手と夫婦と幽霊 (Dote to Fufu to Yurei)
Director: Takaaki Watanabe (渡邉高章 )
Duration: 59 min
In Takaaki Watanabe’s mystery-twinged psychological drama, a novelist (Yutaka Hoshino) wandering home from a funeral finds himself in the house of a strange woman (Kaimami) on a river bank. The novelist has lost his memory and his way in the world, so stays on at the house. But things are definitely amiss here, and his amnesia, the bad food and the cold bath finally lead to unforeseen revelations and several upheavals.

Watanabe is a prolific short-film director (Elephant Song: A Tokyo Couple Story, about a couple searching for a nursery school for their child, won the Grand Prix and acting awards in Japan and abroad in 2018). His new monochrome featurette explores issues of memory, marriage, loneliness and the afterlife.
